This class aims to help you become a more confident and effective English speaker.
Through discussion, the use of authentic materials and awareness of current events you will develop your listening, speaking and conversational skills.
You will practice expressing and supporting your opinions, discussing and debating ideas, and relating topics to your own experiences and interests. The aim is to build your confidence in speaking English and boost the communication skills you need for your other English classes at university and life in general.
ASSESSMENT
Your assessment for this class will comprise of two assessments and continuous assessment which includes classroom participation – your presence in class is important.
You will be notified at least two weeks prior to your tests about the dates and expectations.
CC1: Listening comprehension activity based on the authentic audiovisual document similar to those in class.
CC2: Oral presentation related to the topics covered in class. Instructions will be sent prior to the assessment.
Any absences on the day of the CC1 and CC2 assessments must be justified with a document within seven days.
If you benefit from additional time for assessments, please let me know via email. Your regular completion of homework and classroom participation will be taken into account in the form of a bonus point on your final grade.
