This regional geography course focuses on South Africa at the southern tip of Africa, one of the most important economy in Africa and a very diverse country from many points of view: environmental (variety of climate, terrains and bio ecosystems); resulting in various resources and economic activities (agriculture, industry, mining and tourism). Today’s spatial disparities in terms of demography and economic & urban developments are the result of its past with different settlements, migrations, conflicts and conquests and segregational policies. Some of these aspects will be discussed at the scale of the country and / or provinces depending on the theme, and thus highlighting the major spatial disparities of this country.
